Amadán's Atheist & Skeptic Links

This isn't meant to be a comprehensive directory. (Some of the organizations I link to have much larger links lists.) These are just the sites I consider most noteworth.

Atheist Organizations

The Secular Web -- http://www.infidels.org
One of the largest and best-known resources for atheists on the web.

Agnosticism/Atheism Home Page -- http://atheism.about.com/culture/atheism
About.com's site, with many essays and sites culled from around the WWW.

American Atheists -- http://www.atheists.org
The organization founded by Madalyn Murray O'Hair.

Skeptic Organizations

James Randi Educational Foundation -- http://www.randi.org
The "Amazing Randi" is a preeminent debunker of paranormal and pseudoscientific claims.

The Skeptics Society -- http://www.skeptic.com
Chaired by Michael Shermer, noted debunker and author of "Why People Believe Weird Things," this is also the homepage for Skeptic Magazine.

The World Wide Skeptical Web -- http://members.aol.com/skepticweb/
An index of atheist & skeptic resources on the net.

Entertainment

"Welcome to the world. You, sir, are in luck, for the God of this universe has deigned you one of his chosen people. With you and your descendants he has made a covenant, an eternal promise that you will benefit from his benevolence as long as you obey the law and follow the path of the righteous. You have no boils. You have 10 children. You have 100 goats. You have pottage."

That's how the Old Testament Text Adventure begins -- quite amusing.

Find out which famous people share your disbelief.

Texas Links

The North Texas Church of Freethought
A church . . . of freethinkers? Yup. Based near my home in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. I haven't had a chance to attend their monthly meetings yet, but it looks like they do a lot of interesting things.

The Texas Athiest
A lengthy electronic newsletter that comes out approximately monthly. Send a subscription request to gofreemind@aol.com. (This address is answered by an actual person, not a listserv, so don't try to send automated commands.)

North Texas Skeptics
An organization investigating paranormal and supernatural claims in North Texas. Unfortunately, their website seems not to have been updated for over a year.
